8 Travel must-haves when traveling abroad

The first things I grabbed when packing to travel to India

I recently made the journey to Hyderabad, India for a wedding. More deets on the wedding later but first can we talk about the 8 travel must-haves no one talks about when traveling abroad?

Let’s unpack this…or pack in this case:

  1. Collapsible water bottle to keep hydrated on-the-go, that rolls down to fit in, or clip to your purse. Pro tip: Only fill it with bottled water.
  2. Citronella body wash to protect against mosquitos because the mosquitos are disrespectful. I went one day after forgetting to use it and regretted every life decision I ever made.
  3. Bug spray because you can never be too safe and double protection is necessary. The mosquitos will have you questioning life. Please believe it there is absolutely nothing wrong with carrying backup for your Cintronella body wash.
  4. Converter plug because how else will you charge your phone…or curl your hair, steam your clothes, or use anything with a cord? This should actually be the number one travel must-have.
  5. This is for my coffee snobs – Instant coffee packets, trust me on this one. If you’re not sure which to buy Café Bustelo is my staple.
  6. Collapsible mug – Because what else are you going to drink your coffee in? Duh. Nah, but seriously, this comes in handy for so many reasons and yup it collapses so small it’s insane. Pro tip:  Get your favorite creamers individually of course and fill your collapsable mug up with them and throw them in the suitcase. The mug will protect them from busting and your taste buds will thank you. Besides that powdered or flavorless creamer in your room can kick rocks.
  7. Space saver bags with the hand pump (not the electric one)  Listen to the person who had to repack in the airport after getting stuck for more than 12 hours. (I’m not ready to talk about that ok, just trust me.)
  8. Electronic bag scale – If you know you know. This keeps you from racking up those insane surprise baggage fees at the airport. Pro tip: Get two. Pack one in your bag so you can weigh it after you bought all of those souvenirs and just in case you leave it behind, you have another at home.

There are stories for each of these, but until I’m ready to share, tell me your travel must-haves in the comments. I have a ton, but these came through in the clutch! Drop yours below and tag your travel bestie so they can share theirs. Happy packing!
